San Francisco gets one more sunny day Sunday before a cooler, unsettled stretch moves in. Temperatures are forecast in the mid- to upper 60s in San Francisco, while west-southwest winds strengthen through the afternoon. By midweek, rain chances return to the forecast.
Sunny Sunday, Then A Noticeable Cooldown
Sunday afternoon will stay bright, but it will not feel especially warm by Bay Area standards. Winds of 5 to 14 mph may gust as high as 22 mph, and San Francisco's forecast high is in the mid- to upper 60s.
Sunday night will be partly cloudy with a low near 54 degrees. West winds will remain active, with gusts reaching up to 25 mph, so exposed areas and waterfront paths could feel brisk after sunset.
Beachgoers Face Dangerous Surf Conditions
A Beach Hazards Statement remains in effect for Pacific Coast beaches through Sunday evening. The National Weather Service says breaking waves of 7 to 12 feet could produce sneaker waves and strong rip currents, creating a risk for anyone near the shoreline, rocks, jetties or piers.
Beach visitors should stay out of the water, avoid waterside infrastructure and never turn their backs on the ocean. The latest warning advises people to remain well back from the surf, where waves can surge across the shoreline without warning.
Rain Chances Build Tuesday And Wednesday
Monday will be cooler and partly sunny, with a high near 62 degrees. A chance of rain showers arrives after 11 p.m. Monday, with a 30% chance of precipitation and rainfall totals expected to remain below a tenth of an inch.
Tuesday will stay mostly cloudy with a high near 66 and another 30% chance of showers. The wetter-looking part of the week arrives Wednesday, when scattered showers and light rain are possible and the precipitation chance rises to 47%, according to the National Weather Service.
Rain chances taper Thursday, which should turn partly sunny after a slight chance of morning rain. Friday is forecast to reach the mid-80s in San Francisco, while Saturday is expected to be mostly sunny and warm, with highs in the upper 70s to low 80s.
