San Francisco is expected to stay warm Wednesday before cooler and noticeably windier weather settles in for the weekend.
The Dense Fog Advisory for San Francisco expired at 9 a.m. Tuesday, after warning that visibility could drop to one-quarter mile or less in affected areas. Drivers should slow down, use low-beam headlights and leave extra space, according to the National Weather Service.
Cooler, windier conditions are expected to develop later in the week.
The Weekend Brings A Sharper Cooldown
Thursday will remain mostly sunny with another high near 77, followed by a slightly cooler Friday around 74. The bigger shift arrives Saturday, when the high drops to about 59 and conditions turn breezy.
Sunday should be sunny and cool near 60. The extended forecast remains dry through Monday.
Heat And Fire Weather Stay More Serious Inland
Although San Francisco will be relatively comfortable by Bay Area standards, inland locations remain hot and dry through Thursday. Forecasters continue to warn of elevated fire-weather conditions in higher terrain, where dry air and limited overnight cooling can help fires spread more easily.
The regional forecast also flags coastal flooding concerns from higher tides through the weekend, along with hazardous beach conditions as longer-period swell arrives later this week. Anyone heading to the shoreline should check conditions before going, especially Friday through Sunday.
The fog advisory and updated weekend cooldown mark a substantive change from Tuesday’s Hoodline forecast, which focused on the lingering warm spell and the first signs of stronger winds ahead.
