San Jose woke to clear skies and temperatures around 50 degrees Wednesday, but the jacket weather will not last. Sunshine will push the city near 79 degrees Wednesday before a warmer stretch peaks at 89 on Friday.
The National Weather Service forecast calls for sunny, dry conditions Wednesday, with light southeast winds in the morning and a breeze reaching about 8 mph later in the day. Wednesday night should stay clear, with temperatures dipping to around 52 degrees.
Friday Brings The Week’s Warmest Weather
Thursday will turn noticeably warmer, with a high near 84, followed by Friday’s expected high of 89. Saturday will remain sunny and warm near 88 before the pattern breaks Sunday, when temperatures drop to around 77 with stronger west-northwest winds.
The cooldown continues Monday, with mostly sunny skies and a high near 68. A slight chance of light rain arrives Monday night and lingers into Tuesday, when San Jose should see a high near 69.
Dry Air Raises Fire Weather Concerns Regionally
The broader Bay Area will be unusually dry through Friday, and the weather service is warning of elevated to near-critical fire weather conditions in higher elevations, particularly the North Bay interior mountains and East Bay hills. Gusty offshore winds could reach 30 to 40 mph in the most exposed terrain, while low humidity leaves vegetation especially vulnerable.
A National Weather Service advisory also remains in effect through 4 p.m. Wednesday for low-lying bayshore locations along San Pablo Bay. That flooding concern is north of San Jose, but Bay Area travelers should watch for water over roads, closed shoreline access and hazardous conditions near the water.
