Two San Jose women were arrested after investigators say they traced a stabbing at a San Jose home to a body dumped in a ravine along a rural Alameda County road near Livermore. Alexia Nieves Solache, 22, and Veronica Rangel, 55, were booked into Santa Clara County Main Jail on suspicion of murder after a monthslong investigation that stretched from a quiet San Jose street to the hills east of Livermore.

According to kron4.com, detectives determined that the victim was stabbed at a residence on North 7th Street in San Jose before someone dumped the body in a ravine along Tesla Road in Livermore. The victim was last seen on August 22 at a home in the 700 block of North Seventh Street, the station reports. As reported by NBC Bay Area, that North Seventh Street home did not belong to the victim, police said.

Three days after the victim was last seen, a passerby driving through the area reported seeing what appeared to be a concealed person in a ravine, the same account notes. Alameda County Sheriff's Office deputies responded to Tesla and Eagles Run roads at about 3:04 p.m. on Aug. 25 and found the person dead, according to NBC Bay Area. The victim had suffered multiple stab wounds, and the death was ruled a homicide, police said.

Tracing a Vehicle 30 Miles to the Scene

Investigators identified a suspect vehicle that had traveled from the San Jose home to the area outside Livermore where the body turned up, about 30 miles away, per the same kron4.com report. Police identified Solache and Rangel as the primary suspects.

The arrests did not come quickly. Solache was located in Los Angeles and extradited back to San Jose on Oct. 27 to face charges, the station's report states, while detectives apprehended Rangel in San Jose that same day. Both were booked into Santa Clara County Main Jail on suspicion of murder, closing out a roughly two-month gap between the discovery of the body and the arrests.

Motive Still Unclear as Investigation Continues

Despite the arrests, the motive and circumstances surrounding the killing remain under investigation, according to the same report. Police have not detailed what led to the stabbing or how the two women are alleged to have known the victim, whose identity has not been released.

The case adds to a string of violent deaths tracked across the region this year. A separate Mercury News map of 2026 homicides across Santa Clara, San Mateo, San Francisco, Alameda and Contra Costa counties marks stabbing deaths with yellow dots and shootings with red, and lists an unidentified person killed in nearby Pleasanton on Aug. 28. The rural stretch near Tesla Road has seen other violence this year as well — sfbayca.com reported that a 19-year-old Tracy woman was found stabbed on Tesla Road in unincorporated Livermore and later died, though that case is separate from the one involving Solache and Rangel.

San Jose police have asked anyone with information about the North Seventh Street stabbing to contact Detective Sgt. Varela or Detective Montoya at [email protected] or [email protected], or by phone at 408-277-5283.
