Boca Post reported that the shelter-in-place alert covered residents near Southwest 61st Way in Sandalfoot, including Chateau on the Knoll and nearby residences. The alert was lifted at 12:30 p.m., the outlet reported.
The sheriff’s office told WPBF that deputies responded after a person threatened self-harm. Boca Post reported heavy police activity during the alert.
Boca Post reported no indication of injuries or additional threats beyond the person involved. The reports cited here do not establish that the Sandalfoot response involved a shooting, and it should not be connected to a separate shooting.
Behavioral-health crisis services
For people experiencing a behavioral-health emergency, the Florida Department of Children and Families says Mobile Response Teams provide emergency behavioral-health care 24 hours a day, seven days a week, across Florida. The department says teams can also provide on-demand crisis intervention in person or by telehealth.
PBSO behavioral-health services
The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office says its Behavioral Services Division includes law-enforcement detectives, a licensed clinical therapist and case managers. The agency’s description does not establish that division staff were involved in the Sandalfoot response.
