San Francisco is in for a damp Thursday, with light rain likely through the afternoon before the clouds begin to break. The city should top out near 63 degrees, while wet pavement, lower visibility and occasional breezy moments could complicate the morning and midday commute.
Rain chances rise to about 60% late this morning and early afternoon, with showers most likely before 5 p.m. The National Weather Service expects rainfall amounts of 0.10 to 0.50 inches for most spots, with higher totals along the coast.
Rain Fades As Winds Pick Up
Winds may be uncertain and variable. A small chance of thunderstorms remains across the region, but the latest forecast calls for light rain rather than a major severe-weather event in the city.
Thursday night should bring an overnight low in the upper 50s. For people heading toward the waterfront, marine conditions will be rougher than conditions on land, with small-craft advisories posted for nearby waters beginning Thursday evening.
Sunny Weekend Brings A Quick Reset
The forecast improves quickly Friday, ushering in a warm, dry stretch.
Warm, dry weather should continue into early next week. In other words, the umbrellas may get a short Thursday workout, but the weekend looks like a much better bet for parks, patios and long walks by the bay.
