Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office deputies are asking the public for help finding 15-year-old Nubia Aset, who went missing from the area of 123rd Avenue and 283rd Street in Southwest Miami-Dade on Monday. She is described as 5 feet 6 inches tall and 180 pounds, and she was last seen wearing a black jacket, blue jeans and pink-and-white sneakers.
According to WSVN, deputies are specifically seeking the public’s help in locating the teen, who was last seen at that Southwest Miami-Dade intersection on Monday. Her clothing description, provided in the same report, includes the black jacket, blue jeans and the distinctive pink-and-white sneakers.
A separate account from the station adds a concerning detail: Nubia has not made contact with her family or friends since she went missing and may be in need of services, the outlet reports. That report does not specify what kind of services she may need, but it underscores the urgency deputies have placed on tracking her down quickly.
Florida issued 404 missing-person alerts in 2024, including 84 Missing Child Alerts, according to the state’s annual alert statistics. Of those qualifying alerts, 380 had resulted in successful recoveries by Feb. 7, 2025. The figures cover alert cases—not every missing-child report—and provide statewide context rather than a forecast for any individual case.
A public plea does not automatically trigger an emergency alert. The state’s Missing Child Alert criteria require investigators to have a well-founded belief that a child faces danger of death or serious bodily injury. Miami-Dade’s AMBER Alert guidance describes a separate alert for suspected child abductions when serious harm or death is feared.
Florida law requires agencies receiving a missing-child report to notify on-duty officers and other agencies with jurisdiction in the county, then send the record to state and national missing-person databases within two hours. The deadline is part of the state’s missing-person reporting requirements, designed to circulate information quickly beyond the agency handling the case.
Conflicting Details Across Reports
Notably, a separate report from the same outlet lists different particulars for what appears to be the same case, creating confusion for anyone trying to help. That version describes Nubia as 5 feet 7 inches tall and weighing about 140 pounds, with brown eyes and brown hair, and says she was last seen wearing a black jacket and black-and-white pants — rather than the blue jeans and pink-and-white sneakers described elsewhere. It also places her disappearance near the 12300 block of Southwest 283rd Street on Aug. 6, a different date than the Monday disappearance described in the primary account. It is not clear from the available reporting whether these two accounts describe the same incident or two separate occurrences, and no additional information has been provided to reconcile the discrepancies.
