St. Louis is waking up to increasing high clouds and a cool, calm start Monday, October 26, but the light jacket has a short shift ahead. Temperatures in the upper 40s early will climb to the mid-70s this afternoon, with high clouds increasing through the morning and some afternoon clearing mainly in western parts of the forecast area. No watches, warnings or advisories are in effect.
According to the National Weather Service, Monday night will turn partly cloudy with a low near 53, and Tuesday will bring increased midlevel clouds and slightly cooler temperatures, with highs in the low to mid-70s. Winds will remain light, so the main forecast issue is the familiar late-October wardrobe math: chilly mornings, warm afternoons.
Warmth Builds Before Halloween
Mostly sunny skies return Wednesday with a high near 78, followed by the warmest day of the stretch Thursday, when St. Louis could reach 83 under sunny skies. Friday remains partly sunny and warm near 80.
Halloween Weekend Turns Cloudier
The best chances for light showers are Saturday afternoon and night, with a 30% chance of precipitation as temperatures reach the low to mid-70s. Saturday night carries a 50% rain chance, while Sunday stays mostly cloudy with highs in the low to mid-70s and another 30% chance of showers.
Good Outdoor Window Through Friday
For most of the week, the forecast favors dry conditions, light winds and comfortable afternoons across the city. Outdoor plans look easiest from Monday through Friday; Halloween weekend may need a flexible backup, but a widespread heavy rain event is not currently expected.
