A federal jury in St. Louis found a St. Louis County man guilty Thursday of running guns and drugs to an undercover ATF agent, capping a four-day trial that laid out months of recorded deals involving firearms, methamphetamine and fentanyl. Brandon Shaw was convicted on five counts of distributing a controlled substance, six counts of being a felon in possession of a firearm, and one count of being an unlicensed firearms dealer.
According to First Alert 4, prosecutors said Shaw sold 11 guns, more than four pounds of methamphetamine, and more than 20 grams of fentanyl to the undercover agent over a four-month span. A separate account from FOX 2, citing the U.S. Attorney's Office, put the fentanyl total at more than 30 grams. Either way, investigators say the exchanges were extensive enough to span both narcotics and firearms trafficking in a single case.
Deals Caught on Tape
The transactions between Shaw and the undercover agent were captured on both audio and video, per the station's report.
Shaw was on supervised release at the time of the sales, the outlet reported, a detail that added weight to the felon-in-possession counts given his criminal history. He had been previously convicted in federal court in 2021 of being a felon in possession of a firearm, according to the same account.
Separate Missouri Gun Case
In a separate matter announced by the U.S. Department of Justice, Eastern District of Missouri, a man named Lamondre Haynes was sentenced after buying 27 firearms that were later recovered by law enforcement at crime scenes across Illinois, Kentucky and Missouri. That case, while unrelated to Shaw's, was a separate federal firearms prosecution in the region.
Shaw was convicted by a federal jury. The case was handled within the Eastern District of Missouri, which oversees federal firearms and narcotics prosecutions throughout the St. Louis region.
