
A man was rushed to the hospital Tuesday morning after being stabbed in downtown Phoenix, with witnesses saying he ran to Cornish Pasty before collapsing at the restaurant. The attack shut down a stretch of Monroe Street and left investigators scrambling to figure out exactly where the stabbing occurred.
Phoenix police confirmed that a man was stabbed and rushed to the hospital, according to AZ Family. The stabbing was reported near Central Avenue and Monroe Street, though investigators were still working to pin down the precise location where the attack took place. The victim was hospitalized with serious injuries.
Witnesses told the outlet they saw the victim run toward Cornish Pasty before collapsing at the restaurant, and bystanders called 911 after noticing he was hurt. Crime-scene tape soon stretched across the sidewalk and crosswalk in front of Cornish Pasty and the Hotel San Carlos, according to the same report, as officers worked to piece together what happened.
Street Closures Snarl Downtown Traffic
Monroe Street was closed from Central Avenue to First Avenue while investigators processed the scene, per the station's report. Officials asked drivers and residents to avoid the area and use alternate routes while the investigation continued. Police found a suspect and took him into custody, though authorities had not identified him.
Other Phoenix Stabbing Reports
An ABC15 report published October 24, 2025, detailed a stabbing near Central Avenue and Van Buren Street the previous Thursday night, October 23, in which police were called just before 9 p.m. for a man seriously hurt. In June, a man was stabbed and reported in critical condition with life-threatening injuries, as AZ Family reported at the time.
As of Tuesday, a suspect was in custody, though authorities had not identified him, and the victim had serious injuries.
