Fog and mist are hanging over Pittsburgh early Tuesday, with temperatures near 48 degrees before the city warms into a mild, mostly sunny afternoon. The high is expected to reach about 70 degrees, setting up another unusually warm late-October day.
Fog Burns Off Before A Mild Afternoon
The National Weather Service in Pittsburgh says foggy conditions are expected to dissipate after 13Z, or 9 a.m. EDT, with the best chance for denser fog along the I-70 corridor during the early-morning commute. Visibility should improve after 9 a.m. as temperatures rise, according to the National Weather Service.
Warm, Quiet Stretch Holds Through Saturday
Wednesday brings another foggy start before partly sunny skies and a high near 71 degrees. Thursday looks like the warmest day of the stretch at 73 degrees under sunny skies, followed by a partly sunny Friday near 72; the latest update builds on Monday's Pittsburgh forecast with more specific timing for the fog and weekend rain.
Saturday, including Halloween, should stay mild and partly sunny, with quiet, dry conditions through the day; a slight shower chance arrives after 1 a.m. Sunday. Overnight temperatures will remain comfortable for late October, ranging from the mid-40s to the low 50s through the week.
Rain Chances Return Sunday
The next rain chance arrives Sunday afternoon into Monday morning. The forecast calls for a mostly cloudy high near 69 degrees, with rain chances extending into Monday morning.
Widespread disruptive rainfall still appears unlikely, but wet leaves and clogged storm drains could contribute to pockets of standing water Monday. No watches, warnings or advisories are posted for the Pittsburgh area, so for now this is a layers-in-the-morning, short-sleeves-by-afternoon kind of week.
