San Francisco wakes Sunday to clear skies and temperatures near 52 degrees, with a sunny day ahead and a high around 64. The city’s weekend cooldown continues, but the shoreline remains the place to avoid lingering.
Temperatures should ease toward the low 60s during the afternoon as southwest winds build from 2 to 12 mph. Rain is not expected in San Francisco, and Monday should stay sunny with a high near 66.
Sunny Skies, Rough Water At The Shore
The bigger concern is along the coast, where breaking waves could reach 13 to 16 feet. Sneaker waves, strong rip currents and hazardous surf are expected, making beaches, jetties, piers and shoreline rocks especially dangerous.
The National Weather Service San Francisco office says a Beach Hazards Statement remains in effect through Monday evening, while a Coastal Flood Advisory continues through Tuesday afternoon. Sunday’s high tide at the San Francisco gauge is expected around 12:18 p.m., running about 1.4 feet above normal, with minor flooding possible near low-lying shorelines and tidal waterways.
Cool Start, Warmer Finish To The Week
Tuesday should bring another sunny day with a high near 68, followed by about 71 on Wednesday. The forecast stays dry, with mostly clear nights and morning lows generally in the low to mid-50s.
A warmer pattern arrives late in the week, with highs near 77 Thursday and 78 Friday before easing to about 75 Saturday. The pleasant inland-style warmth will be a welcome change from the chilly start, but coastal residents can still expect the usual evening chill once the sun clocks out.
