A man wearing a tan hoodie and jeans slipped into an employees-only area of the Walmart on Fort Campbell Boulevard before dawn, and by the time he left the store, several watches had gone with him. Clarksville police are now asking the public to help them put a name to his face.
According to the Clarksville Police Department, officers are investigating a business burglary that occurred at the Walmart located at 1680 Fort Campbell Blvd. The department's Facebook post, published Wednesday, confirms detectives are still working to identify the man caught on store surveillance.
Per Clarksville Now, the incident unfolded on Oct. 21 at around 5:30 a.m., when a white male was spotted in an “employees only” area of the store appearing to conceal several items inside a duffel bag. Store staff escorted the man out of the building, but it wasn't until afterward that Walmart discovered several watches had been taken.
Surveillance Footage Shows Suspect's Clothing
Video cameras inside the store captured an image of the suspect, according to the same report, which described him as wearing a tan hoodie and jeans. Beyond that description, police have not released additional identifying details about the man, and his current whereabouts remain unknown.
The Clarksville Police Department is asking anyone who recognizes the suspect, or who may have additional video footage of the incident, to come forward. Tipsters can contact Detective M. Gibbons directly at (931) 648-0656, extension 5737.
Those who prefer to stay anonymous can also reach out through Clarksville-Montgomery County Crime Stoppers by calling 931-645-8477 or by submitting a tip online at p3tips.com/591. Anonymous tipsters may be eligible for a cash reward if their information leads to an arrest.
Not the First Time Watches and Jewelry Have Vanished From a Clarksville Walmart
This isn't the first time a Clarksville Walmart has dealt with high-value items disappearing from its shelves. In a separate case reported by WKRN, police sought suspects after roughly $25,000 worth of jewelry was stolen from a Clarksville Walmart location. That case remains distinct from the Oct. 21 watch burglary, with no indication the two are connected.
Clarksville has also seen police appeal for the public's help identifying other burglary suspects in recent memory. WSMV reported on a man believed to be in his 20s or 30s who was suspected in two commercial burglaries at local businesses specializing in THCA-based products, with incidents occurring on May 2 and May 23. In that case, surveillance footage showed the suspect wearing latex-coated knit gloves and carrying a duffle bag — a detail investigators noted as a possible sign of planning.
For now, the man in the tan hoodie remains unidentified, and Clarksville police are counting on the public's eyes — and the store's surveillance cameras — to help close the case.
