Three people were hospitalized, two of them in critical condition, after a shooting broke out at a party in Tempe early Saturday morning. Police said officers were already on their way to the scene to respond to a noise complaint when gunfire erupted.
According to AZ Family, Tempe police said officers were en route to reports of a loud party on East Pebble Beach Drive, near McClintock Drive and Southern Avenue, when the shooting happened. The outlet reported that two of the three people taken to the hospital were in critical condition as of Saturday morning.
No other details have been released about the shooting. Police have not identified any suspects, victims, or a possible motive, and no arrests or charges have been announced in connection with the incident.
Investigation Remains in Early Stages
The circumstances that led up to the shooting, including what sparked the gunfire or how many shots were fired, have not been disclosed. It also remains unclear exactly when during the party the shooting took place, beyond police characterizing it as early Saturday morning.
One other shooting at a Tempe pool party was reported. ABC15 said one victim suffered non-life-threatening injuries in a report dated April 20, months before the October 24 shooting on East Pebble Beach Drive.
Pattern of Party-Related Gunfire in the Valley
In another case, ABC15 reported that Tempe police were investigating a shooting at a pool party near Broadway and Rural roads, where officers initially said multiple people had been detained. That report noted one victim in the incident suffered non-life-threatening injuries, a notably different outcome than the critical injuries reported in Saturday's shooting.
The station also reported on three separate shootings involving teenagers in the West Valley on a Saturday, with no known link among those three incidents.
As of now, Tempe police have not released additional information about the condition of the three hospitalized victims or whether anyone has been taken into custody. Hoodline will update this story as more details become available.
