Two of the three San Francisco residents in their 20s were arrested on suspicion of robbery and criminal conspiracy, while the third was arrested on suspicion of shoplifting and criminal conspiracy, after police say they stole merchandise from a Pacifica Spirit Halloween store and shoved an employee to the ground before fleeing. The robbery happened at the seasonal costume shop inside the Fairmont Shopping Center, and all three suspects were later tracked down and booked into jail.
According to the Pacifica Police Department, store employees reported that three individuals stole merchandise and pushed an employee to the ground before fleeing the scene. The employee sustained non-life-threatening injuries, police said. Officers had been dispatched to the store for a robbery in progress, and witnesses on the scene were able to provide the license plate number of the fleeing vehicle.
As reported by mercurynews.com, the robbery happened around 12:15 p.m. at the store in the Fairmont Shopping Center, though kron4.com reported that police responded to the scene at 12:14 p.m. Mercury News reports that the suspects stole merchandise and pushed an employee to the ground before leaving, and that the trio was later found in a neighboring city.
License Plate Alert Leads Police to Suspects
Police said an automated license plate reader alerted officers to the suspect vehicle in a neighboring jurisdiction, prompting Pacifica police personnel to coordinate with a neighboring law enforcement agency. Officers entered the vehicle as wanted in connection with the robbery, and the three suspects were ultimately taken into custody through that joint effort. Law enforcement also recovered the stolen merchandise, according to police.
Pacifica police identified the suspects as 22-year-old Quiana Cheatham and 24-year-olds Heavun Winnfield and Skyy Winnfield, all San Francisco residents. The Mercury News reported that two suspects were arrested on suspicion of robbery and criminal conspiracy, while the third faced shoplifting and conspiracy allegations.
Booked at Maguire Correctional Facility
All three suspects were booked into the Maguire Correctional Facility in Redwood City, police said. The Mercury News reported that the trio no longer appeared to be in custody as of Friday.
California Penal Code section 212.5 addresses degrees of robbery. The suspects also faced conspiracy allegations.
