In April 2026, Central Station officers responded to reports of gunfire at a hotel. Officers encountered an armed suspect on the seventh floor and took the suspect into custody without injury.
The San Francisco Department of Emergency Management operates the city's 9-1-1 call center and dispatches first responders. A report of gunfire at a hotel prompted the response. SFPD's A5 and A6 channels are assigned to Central and Northern district stations, while A1 and A2 are assigned to Tenderloin.
Nearly six months later, the San Francisco Police described a coordinated response to reports of gunfire at a hotel, where officers encountered an armed suspect and took the suspect into custody. No officers, hotel staff or guests were injured. The department has not released the suspect's identity, any criminal charges filed, or whether the gunfire caused damage inside the building, and those details remain unresolved.
April Honorees Recognized in October
Kidd, Schmierer-Marquez and Pineda were named Officers of the Month for April 2026 during an SFPD awards ceremony at San Francisco City Hall on October 15, as reported by the San Francisco Police Department.
The department recognized Officers of the Month for April, May and June 2026.
What the Award Recognizes
Under the department's Department General Order 3.09, Officer of the Month designations are meant to recognize sworn personnel who demonstrate effective community policing and promote what the policy calls a police officer as guardian culture.
Central Station
Central Station is located at 766 Vallejo Street.
In a separate post about the hotel response, San Francisco Police
said the response ended without injury to officers, hotel staff or guests. For now, the broader circumstances behind the gunfire — who fired the shots and why — remain known only to investigators.
