Fans can attend the Utah Jazz's free home-opener celebration at Salt Lake City's SeatGeek Plaza without a game ticket. The outdoor event begins at 4 p.m. on October 23, ahead of the 7:30 p.m. matchup against the New Orleans Pelicans, and will feature live music, food and beverages, and giveaways.
The plaza event is open to the public, according to KUTV. Among the planned giveaways are free Chick-fil-A sandwiches and T-shirts.
Jazz players are expected to enter the arena via the Mountain Purple Carpet shortly after the celebration begins, giving fans an opportunity to see the roster before tipoff.
C.J. Miles Returns for Autographs and Photos
Former Jazz player C.J. Miles will be on hand to meet fans for autographs and photos during the pregame festivities, per the same report. Miles spent part of his NBA career with Utah before later stints elsewhere in the league, and his appearance adds a nostalgic touch to the celebration for longtime season ticket holders and newer fans alike.
Once the plaza celebration wraps up, the action shifts inside for the Jazz's season-opening matchup against the Pelicans. Fans who can't make it downtown can catch the game locally on KJZZ Channel 14, and the broadcast will also be available through SEG Media's SEG+ and Jazz+ services.
Getting to the Delta Center
Fans traveling to the arena can take the TRAX Green or Blue Line to Arena Station, according to the Utah Transit Authority. The Delta Center says Arena Station is on South Temple, across from the venue.
A Freshly Renovated Delta Center Welcomes Fans
The celebration arrives just weeks after the Delta Center completed the second phase of an ongoing renovation ahead of the Jazz and Utah Mammoth seasons, according to KUTV. The rebuilt upper-north end zone added more than 1,500 full-view seats for Mammoth games while preserving sightlines for Jazz games, and new Sky Lounges above each sideline brought 200 additional seats to each side of the arena.
The arena renovation also expanded the food scene inside the building, with several new Utah-based restaurants pushing the total number of Utah eateries inside the Delta Center to 18. Smith Entertainment Group also extended its Moxie College Ticket Program to Jazz and Mammoth home games this season, letting university students buy $25 tickets with access to the Moxie College Club. A free rewards program for Jazz and Mammoth fans launched through the teams' apps on October 1.
With the plaza party, the renovated arena, and a new season of basketball all converging on October 23, the home opener marks a fresh start for a franchise looking to give its fan base plenty of reasons to show up early and stick around late.
