A man wanted for more than two weeks in connection with a deadly shooting at a Clayton County gas station is now behind bars. Clayton County police announced Saturday that Seneca Colbert has been taken into custody in connection with the Oct. 8 killing of a man at the Marathon Gas Riverdale Xpress Mart.

Colbert was identified as a suspect shortly after the shooting, and detectives secured arrest warrants within days, according to FOX 5 Atlanta. Investigators say Colbert shot and killed a man following an argument at the station, located at 5995 Riverdale Road. Clayton County police credited the U.S. Marshals Service and the Atlanta Police Department with helping track down and arrest him, the station reports.

A Late-Night Call to a Riverdale Road Gas Station

The shooting unfolded around 10:30 p.m. on Oct. 8, when officers were dispatched to the Marathon station after reports of shots fired. Per the same account, responding officers found a man who had been shot to death at the scene. WSB-TV similarly reported that officers responding to the 5000 block of Riverdale Road around 10:35 p.m. found an injured man who was later pronounced dead.

Atlanta News First also reported on the shooting in the days afterward, noting that officers were called to the 5000 block of Riverdale Road around 10:30 p.m. after the gunfire. Officials have not released the name or age of the man who was killed, and that detail remains unknown even as the suspect's case has moved forward.

Police Describe It as an Isolated Confrontation

Investigators later said the gunfire stemmed from an argument between the two men and appeared to be an isolated incident, not a random act of violence tied to the surrounding area.

With Colbert now in custody, the case shifts from a manhunt to the next phase of the investigation. Clayton County police have not released additional details about what happens next in the case.
