The West Palm Beach GreenMarket returned to the city’s downtown waterfront on Saturday for its 32nd year, opening a new season built around the theme “World, Right Here” and a lineup of roughly 150 vendors drawn from more than 20 countries. Shoppers strolling the Clematis Street promenade this fall will find stalls representing Europe, Latin America, the Caribbean and Asia alongside the market’s usual produce stands and prepared foods.
According to WPBF, this year’s theme celebrates global flavors, products and traditions, giving the market an international flavor that organizers hope will draw repeat visitors through the long season. The outlet reports the market runs every Saturday morning from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. through May 22, 2027, with live entertainment set up along Clematis Street throughout the run. Two Saturdays are carved out of the schedule: the market will not operate on February 6, 2027, because of the Palm Tree Festival, or on March 20, 2027, due to the Palm Beach International Boat Show, per the same report.
A National Ranking Reclaimed
The season’s return comes on the heels of a notable comeback in the national farmers-market rankings. The market reclaimed the No. 1 spot in USA TODAY’s 10Best Readers’ Choice “Best Farmers Market” poll this past April, according to the station’s report, beating out 19 other competitors nationwide after finishing second in both 2024 and 2025. That makes the GreenMarket the only market in the country to have held the top spot for three consecutive years, from 2021 through 2023, before its brief runner-up stretch, the outlet notes.
The GreenMarket’s roots stretch back to November 1995, when then-Mayor Nancy Graham launched it with just 13 vendors in the Old City Hall parking lot, modeling the concept after European public markets she had visited, according to the City of West Palm Beach. In those early days, city staff reportedly bought and resold fruits and vegetables themselves until local farmers had their own crops ready to sell. The market later moved from its original home on Narcissus Avenue and 2nd Street to its current permanent location at 100 N. Clematis Street on the Intracoastal Waterway in October 2010, a shift that let it expand to more than 125 vendors at the time.
New Faces Among the Vendor Stalls
Shoppers checking out this season will find several new names mixed in with longtime favorites. New vendor additions debuting for the 2026–2027 season include Ba Café, Arya Tea Bar, Macaroner, Sayblee Products and Truffle Smiles, according to Clematis Street. The market hosts roughly 140 to 150 total vendors across its footprint, the organization notes, making it one of the largest public markets in the region.
Beyond shopping, the 32nd season also brings interactive public programming, including a GreenMarket Master Chef Showcase and hands-on Pop-Up Workshops, according to the City of West Palm Beach. City organizers have lined up live entertainment and community workshops to run throughout the season alongside the vendor stalls.
Getting There and Market Rules
For visitors driving in, free parking during market hours is available at the City Center, Clematis and Sapodilla garages, while boaters can dock for free along the Intracoastal Waterway at the city’s Clematis Street Dock, per Clematis Street. Those who’d rather pay for guaranteed weekend parking can use the Banyan and Evernia garages, which offer a flat $5 rate. Dogs on short leashes are also welcome along the outdoor waterfront promenade during market hours, according to the same source.
The market’s early October launch also puts it ahead of the rest of Palm Beach County’s seasonal farmers market calendar. The GreenMarket’s October 3 opening preceded the Royal Palm Beach Green Market, which opens October 17, and the Delray Beach Winter GreenMarket, which opens October 24, Clematis Street reports — making West Palm Beach’s market the earliest major seasonal launch in the county this fall.
A Long Run of Recognition
The newly reclaimed USA TODAY ranking adds to a long list of honors for the market. Across its 32-year history, the GreenMarket has received over 40 regional and national awards, including recognition by Cooking Light magazine as the “Best Market in Florida,” according to The Atlantic Current. The accolades span more than two decades of local and national media coverage, reflecting the market’s steady growth from a 13-vendor experiment into one of the state’s signature outdoor markets.
The previous 2025–2026 season, which ran through May 30, 2026, represented the longest season and largest vendor footprint in GreenMarket history up to that point, according to the City of West Palm Beach. That 31st season operated under the theme “From the Ground Up,” part of a broader pattern of the city extending the market’s calendar and vendor count year over year. WPBF, which serves as the exclusive sponsor of the West Palm Beach GreenMarket, reported the season’s opening details alongside the market’s latest national recognition.
