A West Palm Beach man is being held without bond after deputies say he forced his way into a home near North Federal Highway and attacked two women, including an at-home hospice patient suffering from terminal cancer. Mandy Bolobanic was arrested Thursday and now faces an array of felony charges including home invasion robbery, elder abuse, battery by strangulation and witness tampering.
According to the arrest report issued by the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office, deputies responded to the home shortly after 8 p.m. Thursday after Bolobanic arrived uninvited and began a violent confrontation. Deputies say he took cellphones from both women, kicked in two bedroom doors, then threw one woman to the floor, leaving her with a cut above her eye.
Per the same report, Bolobanic threw the second woman against a wall, pulled her by the hair and stomped on her while she was on the ground. That woman was receiving at-home hospice care for terminal cancer, and deputies say Bolobanic knew of her medical condition when he allegedly punched her several times. She later reported soreness in her head, scalp and torso.
Strangulation With a Hookah Cord
Deputies allege Bolobanic wrapped a hookah cord around the other woman's neck and then squeezed her neck with both hands, leaving her unable to breathe for several seconds. Both women eventually fled the home and ran to a neighbor's residence, where the neighbor called 911. Investigators who arrived at the scene found damaged doors, broken cellphones, blood on a bedroom floor and clumps of hair, the arrest report states.
Bolobanic was taken into custody outside the home. The alleged assault involved multiple rooms.
Charges in the Case
Bolobanic faces charges of home invasion robbery without a firearm or weapon, abuse of an elderly or disabled adult, two counts of tampering with a witness or victim, battery by strangulation, and misdemeanor battery. The home invasion robbery charge is without a firearm or weapon, and Bolobanic is being held without bond.
The charges include elder abuse and battery by strangulation.
