
A 20-year-old man is facing attempted murder charges after police say he rode up on a bicycle and opened fire on another man in the street in West Rogers Park. Giovanni Jasso was taken into custody in west suburban Forest Park.
Victim Shot in the Leg, Hospitalized in Good Condition
According to Fox 32 Chicago, Jasso is accused of shooting a 26-year-old man on Aug. 26. Police said the victim was in the street when Jasso allegedly rode up on a bicycle, pulled out a gun and fired. The man was struck in the left leg and taken to St. Francis Hospital, where he was listed in good condition, the station reported.
Jasso was not arrested immediately after the shooting. The station's report states he was taken into custody on a Tuesday in the 500 block of Des Plaines Avenue in Forest Park.
Charges Include Attempted Murder and Weapons Count
Jasso now faces charges of attempted first-degree murder, aggravated battery with a firearm, and unlawful use of a weapon involving a machine gun or automatic weapon, as reported by FOX 32 Chicago. The case was one of three separate attempted-murder prosecutions detailed in the outlet's report, and all three men charged were due in court Wednesday for detention hearings.
