The Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office responded shortly after 6 p.m. Saturday to reports of a person set on fire near Northwest 63rd Street and Northwest 25th Avenue, according to WSVN. Deputies found an adult man burned and unconscious, the station reported.
Victim Rushed to Trauma Center
The man was taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital’s Ryder Trauma Center in critical condition, according to the same account.
A woman was located during a search of the surrounding area and taken into custody, WSVN reported.
Investigation Continues
The sheriff’s office said the investigation remains ongoing, according to WSVN 7News. Investigators have not released details about what led up to the fire or whether the man and woman knew each other.
What regional fire data shows
The available figure is regional, not specific to Miami-Dade: the Florida State Fire Marshal’s 2020 annual report says its South Region investigated 142 fires classified as incendiary, meaning intentional. That tally does not show how many such fires occurred in Miami-Dade, so it cannot establish a county-level count.
