Miami-Dade County residents can now walk into Wynwood Walls without paying a dime, and they can thank the studio behind one of the biggest video games ever made. Rockstar Games, the publisher of Grand Theft Auto VI, has partnered with the outdoor street-art museum to cover admission for locals through 2028, a deal that also brought ten brand-new murals built around the game's fictional take on Miami.

The free-admission program kicked in Tuesday, and according to Wynwood Walls, “Miami-Dade County residents can now experience Wynwood Walls Museum free of charge until 2028.” To get in without paying, visitors need to show a valid photo or student ID bearing a Miami-Dade County address, per the museum's own guidance. Guests visiting alongside an eligible local but who live outside the county are still subject to standard ticket pricing, while children under 12 get in free regardless of residency.

Ten Murals Built for a Fictional Vice City

The partnership isn't just a ticket giveaway. Wynwood Walls unveiled ten new murals commissioned specifically for the world of Grand Theft Auto VI, as ArtNews reported. The artworks were conceived for Stockyard, a Wynwood Walls-like locale embedded in the game's Miami-inspired Vice City, according to the same report. As Miami New Times noted, Grand Theft Auto VI's version of Florida, called Leonida, even includes an area modeled after Wynwood itself.

Some of the new pieces are displayed inside the museum, while others are scattered throughout the surrounding Wynwood neighborhood, per the Miami New Times report. The roster behind the project reads like a who's-who of street art: ATOMIK, Tatiana Suarez, Askew One, DENIAL, FAILE, Gons and Audet, Lady AIKO, Queen Andrea, Ron English, and Tristan Eaton all contributed work, the station's report indicates. Miami New Times also reported that Goldman Global Arts, founded by Wynwood Walls curator Jessica Goldman Srebnick, produced the mural project, and that Detroit-based creative agency 1xrun curated additional contributions from street and tattoo artists who appear in the game.

A Shopping Capsule and a Studio's Gratitude

Wynwood Walls also launched The Art of Vice City, a capsule merchandise collection tied to the in-game artwork, the same ArtNews report noted. Per Miami New Times, the collection is available for preorder and draws on work from 15 artists, with items including water bottles, shirts, flasks, caps, and keychains.

Jessica Goldman Srebnick framed the collaboration as a natural fit in a statement to ArtNews, saying, “Their commitment to creativity, supporting the arts, and love of Miami mirrors our own, making them an ideal partner.” Miami New Times additionally reported that Srebnick expressed gratitude to Rockstar Games for what she described as its visionary support of the initiative.

Wynwood Walls' Long Run as a Street-Art Draw

Wynwood Walls has built its reputation over more than a decade and a half. The museum was founded in 2009 by preservationist, real estate developer, and arts patron Tony Goldman, and it has since featured murals and sculptures by more than 130 artists from over 35 countries, according to the museum's own FAQ page. Beyond the outdoor walls, the campus includes an indoor contemporary urban art gallery, a gift shop, hands-on spray-painting experiences, and an onsite café.

The new Grand Theft Auto VI murals are scheduled to remain on view through January 1, per ArtNews. That gives fans of the franchise, which is set for release on November 19 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S according to Miami New Times, a limited window to see Vice City's art come to life in the actual Miami neighborhood that helped inspire it.
