Three armed robberies hit the same block of South Constance Avenue in South Shore within a four-day span, and Chicago police say they still have no useful description of the attackers. Each time, the same combination struck: two men and one woman approaching victims on foot before demanding their belongings at gunpoint.
The robberies unfolded on the 6700 block of South Constance Avenue, in the Jackson Park Highlands district just south of the southern edge of Jackson Park at 67th Street, according to CBS News. The first incident happened at 8 a.m. on Oct. 28, followed by a second robbery at 9:30 p.m. the next night. The third struck Saturday night at 10:45 p.m., closing out a string of crimes on the same residential stretch in under a week.
Robbers Demanded Property and Stole Cars
In each robbery, the two men and one woman approached a victim on foot and demanded property at gunpoint, the outlet's report states. The robbers also demanded that victims transfer money directly from their digital wallets, adding a modern twist to an old-fashioned stickup. After two of the three incidents, the attackers went a step further, stealing the victims' cars and driving away in them.
Chicago police have not released any useful suspect descriptions from the three encounters, leaving the Jackson Park Highlands community with little to go on beyond the pattern itself: two men, one woman, on foot, armed. Investigators are asking anyone with information to call Wentworth Area detectives at 312-747-8380 or to submit tips anonymously through CPDTIP.com.
Pattern Echoes Other Recent South Side Alerts
This is not the first time Chicago police have flagged a cluster of robberies confined to a single block this year. The department issued a similar alert after a string of armed robberies struck the same block in Woodlawn over roughly a week, with a man allegedly approaching victims at a drive-through ATM, displaying a gun and fleeing on foot after taking their money, according to WGN-TV. A separate community alert covered three robberies on the 9200 block of South Harvard Avenue in Roseland that followed a comparable pattern, the station reported.
South Constance Avenue itself has drawn police attention before. In August, ABC7 Chicago reported that police were searching for four suspects who beat a man with his own cane and stomped on him in broad daylight on the 7100 block of South Constance Avenue. This week's robberies occurred on the 6700 block of the same avenue.
Robberies Down Citywide, But Not Gone
The Constance Avenue cluster comes even as citywide robbery numbers have been trending downward. Reported levels of 10 of 13 tracked offenses in Chicago declined during the first half of 2026 compared with the same period the previous year, according to the Council on Criminal Justice. The organization found that the city's robbery rate was 28% lower in the first half of 2026 than in the first half of 2025, and 43% lower than during the same period in 2019.
Chicago's robbery rate during the first half of 2026 stood at 77.6 per 100,000 residents, which the council calculated as 55% below the rate recorded during the same period in 2018. Carjackings also fell, with the council reporting the city's carjacking rate down 27% from the first half of 2025, even as nonresidential burglary rose 132% over the same comparison period.
For residents near South Constance Avenue, those broader citywide trends offer little comfort after three gunpoint robberies in four days on their own block. Police have not said whether the three incidents are connected to the earlier Woodlawn or Roseland alerts, and anyone with information is urged to come forward through the Wentworth Area tip line or CPDTIP.com.
