A 34-year-old Bay Point man was sentenced Wednesday to six years in federal prison after admitting he sold large quantities of methamphetamine in Bay Point, capping a case that also turned up dozens of firearms and a stash of ammunition at his home. Carson Fries received the 72-month sentence from U.S. District Judge Haywood S. Gilliam Jr., along with four years of supervised release once he's out.

According to contracosta.news, Fries pleaded guilty on July 29 to possession with intent to distribute 50 grams or more of a methamphetamine mixture. Prosecutors say he was first charged by criminal complaint back on September 22, 2025, with a formal information following on May 12 of this year. The case against him describes a pattern of repeated, large-scale sales in Bay Point over just a few weeks in the late summer of 2025.

A String of Meth Sales in Late Summer 2025

Prosecutors say Fries admitted to selling meth on at least three separate occasions between August 29 and September 9, 2025, all in Bay Point. On August 29, he sold approximately 478 gross grams, according to the same report. Just days later, on September 3, he moved another 518 gross grams, and he closed out the run on September 9 with a sale of roughly 506 gross grams — bringing the total across the three transactions to around 1,502 gross grams of methamphetamine.

The Mercury News reported that the sentence was handed down at the U.S. District Court in Oakland. The U.S. Attorney's Office described Fries as a significant drug supplier operating in Contra Costa County.

Search Turned Up Guns, Ammunition and More Meth

When investigators searched Fries' residence, they didn't just find more drugs. Per the report, agents recovered 160 grams of methamphetamine along with 33 firearms and a stockpile of ammunition on the property.

The prosecution was the result of an investigation by the DEA and the Concord Police Department, the outlet noted, reflecting a joint federal-local effort in this case. A separate DEA release has pointed to a broader surge in coordinated enforcement around the San Francisco area, though the available evidence does not tie those specific seizures to the Fries case.

Not the First Bay Point Meth Case to Draw Federal Time

Fries' sentencing adds to a history of federal methamphetamine prosecutions tied to Bay Point. The U.S. Department of Justice has previously announced a case involving another Bay Point resident sentenced to more than nine years in prison on methamphetamine trafficking charges, though further details connecting that case to Fries' were not available.

With his guilty plea and sentencing now finalized, Fries faces six years behind bars followed by four years of supervised release, a term Judge Gilliam imposed in Oakland this week. The case closes out roughly fourteen months after the criminal complaint was first filed in September 2025.
