Berkeley police are asking the public to help find Maxima English, a 73-year-old woman with Alzheimer’s disease who was last seen walking away from the 1600 block of Chestnut Street on Tuesday afternoon. Officers consider her to be at risk.

According to SFGATE, the Berkeley Police Department said English was last seen leaving on foot from that block at approximately 3 p.m. Tuesday. She is described as a 73-year-old Hispanic woman standing 5 feet 6 inches tall, and she was wearing a dark green blouse, black capri pants and light brown hiking boots at the time she disappeared.

Police noted that English is known to walk long distances, which could complicate efforts to track her movements since she left Chestnut Street. The report states that she has previously been located on Broadway in Oakland and on Central Avenue in Richmond, though officers said there is no specific location where she is currently known to go.

What To Do If You See Her

Anyone who spots English is asked to call 911 or contact police immediately, per the same account. English has Alzheimer’s disease.

This is not the first time Berkeley police have turned to the public to locate a vulnerable resident. In a separate case earlier this year, the department sought help finding 72-year-old Larry Armstrong, who was reported missing and considered at risk, according to a report from sfgate.com. In that instance, the California Highway Patrol issued a Silver Alert on behalf of Berkeley police, and Armstrong was last seen around 10 p.m. in the 2800 block of Dohr Street before officers asked anyone with information to call 911 or Berkeley police at a listed phone number.

Berkeley police have not said whether she has since been located, and the search for additional information from the public continues.
