Boston woke Friday to light rain, fog and damp roads, with temperatures already in the low 60s. The wet weather is expected to dominate the day, putting a quick end to the city's unusually mild November stretch.
According to the latest National Weather Service forecast, rain and patchy fog will continue through Friday, with a high near 69 degrees and a slight chance of thunderstorms. Between 1 and 2 inches of rain could fall in the Boston area, while heavier totals are more likely across Rhode Island and southeastern Massachusetts.
Rain Lingers Through Saturday Morning
Friday night's forecast stays wet, with more rain, patchy fog and a low around 56. Rain is likely again before 10 a.m. Saturday, followed by patchy fog, a slight chance of showers and some afternoon sun as temperatures reach about 62 degrees.
A regional Flood Watch remains in effect through Saturday morning for Rhode Island and southeastern Massachusetts, where forecasters are watching for urban and poor-drainage flooding. Boston is outside the main watch area, but heavy downpours could still mean reduced visibility, ponding and a messy commute, especially Friday afternoon and evening.
Cooler, Drier Weather Arrives Next Week
Saturday night brings another chance of rain and a low near 46, while Sunday could start wet before turning mostly sunny with a high around 57. Gusty west winds will add a sharper chill, especially late Sunday and Monday.
Monday and Tuesday look mostly sunny, with highs near 57 and 59 degrees and cooler overnight lows in the low-to-mid 40s. The shift is a substantial wetter turn from Hoodline's earlier Boston forecast, which had called for a lower rain chance and no active advisories before the latest update.
