Palm Beach County travelers now have a new nonstop option for a Central American getaway. BermudAir began flying directly from Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport to Philip S. W. Goldson International Airport in Belize City on October 26, with flights running three times a week through early May.
The new route operates Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, according to the Belize Tourism Board, with service scheduled to run from October 26 through May 3, 2027. BermudAir marked the launch with introductory one-way fares starting at $99, available for bookings made through October 19 for travel through December 18, though travelers booking now should expect different pricing since that window has closed.
The inaugural flight departed Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood at 11 a.m. on October 26, as reported by the Sun Sentinel. The aircraft is a two-class Embraer E190, outfitted with no middle seats, extra legroom and complimentary snacks and beverages, per the tourism board's announcement. The Sun Sentinel's report adds that the jet seats 96 passengers and that BermudAir, once strictly a business-class carrier, is now also offering economy fares on the route.
A Bigger Push Into Belize
Fort Lauderdale is only the first stop in a larger rollout. BermudAir has said nonstop service from Boston, Raleigh-Durham, and Orlando Sanford and St. Petersburg/Tampa Bay is scheduled to begin in December, according to the Belize Tourism Board, positioning South Florida as the opening chapter of a five-city U.S. expansion into the country.
Belize's Minister of Tourism Relations, Hon. Anthony Mahler, called the new routes a milestone for the country's air connectivity. “The launch of these new BermudAir routes marks an important milestone in Belize's efforts to strengthen air connectivity and expand access to our destination,” he told the Sun Sentinel. Breaking Belize News, in its own coverage, framed the Fort Lauderdale route as another valuable link between Belize and what it called an important market for the country's tourism industry, noting the connection it adds between Belize and the United States, as described by Breaking Belize News.
Not the First Nonstop on This Route
BermudAir isn't the first airline to try linking Fort Lauderdale directly to Belize City. Spirit Airlines launched its own nonstop service on the route in November 2025, flying three times weekly, according to WIC News. A later account from Travel + Leisure described Spirit's flights as operating on Mondays, Fridays and Saturdays, with one-way fares as low as $67 for travel in January, a discrepancy in the reported weekly schedule that remains unresolved between the two accounts.
Travel + Leisure also reported that Belize welcomed more than 562,000 overnight visitors the previous year, a 21 percent jump from 2023 and an 11.8 percent increase over 2019 figures, citing the country's tourism board. That growth helps explain why multiple U.S. carriers are now competing for routes into a destination known for the Belize Barrier Reef's snorkeling, ancient Maya ruins, and lush tropical rainforests — all cited by the Belize Tourism Board as draws for American visitors.
What Florida Weekly Added to the Story
According to Florida Weekly, the BermudAir flight takes about two and a half hours, and the outlet describes BermudAir's service as the only nonstop flight currently running between Fort Lauderdale and Belize City. BermudAir has said it is expanding its Caribbean network as a premium leisure carrier from North America, a description attributed to founder and CEO Adam Scott, and the airline connects U.S. travelers to island destinations in the region alongside its home base of Bermuda.
Florida Weekly also reports that BermudAir customers rank the airline highly for customer satisfaction and that the carrier bills itself as offering a boutique flying experience aboard its Embraer aircraft. BermudAir has advised travelers to check schedules carefully when booking, since departure days are expected to change later in the season as the carrier's broader U.S. expansion into Belize continues through the winter.
