Four performers are set to play at the Music Concourse in Golden Gate Park today, with Like Planes, Maya Bennett, Lost Puppy Forever and Three Reefs Deep appearing at the Golden Gate Bandshell during a noon-to-4 p.m. event.
The lineup includes Like Planes, Maya Bennett, Lost Puppy Forever and Three Reefs Deep. The show runs from noon to 4 p.m. at the Music Concourse.
A Stage With Roots Back to 1882
The Bandshell itself carries some history worth noting for anyone wandering through the park today. According to the San Francisco Recreation and Park Department, it is the oldest structure in the Music Concourse, with the original bandstand dating to 1882 and the current structure built in 1900. The venue got a refresh more recently, too — the department notes it was renovated in 2020 with updated sound and lighting equipment.
The tradition of free music at that spot goes back even further than the current building. The Golden Gate Park Band has presented free concerts in the park since 1882, per the same agency, making today's rock lineup the latest chapter in a run that stretches back more than a century.
Part Of A Packed Free Concert Season
Today's show is one piece of a much larger push to fill the Music Concourse with live music this year. The department's 2026 Illuminate LIVE season features more than 125 free performances running through mid-November, and the broader series reportedly draws more than 250,000 attendees annually, according to SF Funcheap. Since 2020, the outlet notes, Illuminate LIVE has presented more than 700 free concerts and welcomed nearly 1 million music fans.
Some of today's performers aren't strangers to the Bandshell stage. Maya Bennett previously appeared on the series schedule for a March performance alongside Frankie West and Jenny Haniver, while Three Reefs Deep played an August date billed as Market to Bandshell with Lisa Graciano and Little Oil, both per SF Funcheap's event listings. The Music Concourse has stayed busy with similar bookings all season — Hoodline previously covered an October show at the same venue featuring ADEYA, Purple Albatross and Squeak.
