GWAR is scheduled to play Revolution Live in Fort Lauderdale on Wednesday, November 4, with its Gor Gor Must Die tour. The venue lists the show as GWAR - Gor Gor Must Die, and the band’s tour announcement confirms the stop. The lineup includes Midnight, Mac Sabbath and X-Cops; the announced spectacle features a giant dinosaur battle and giant robots. The Miami New Times describes it as GWAR’s first South Florida show in three years.
The venue at 100 SW 3rd Ave has its own history in the local concert scene: the Miami New Times reports that Revolution Live opened on September 28, 2004, with a Wailers performance on its outdoor patio.
A theatrical tradition rooted in Richmond
GWAR’s elaborate staging has roots beyond heavy metal. VICE traces the group’s beginnings to a merger of Richmond band Death Piggy and The Slave Pit, a production house created by Virginia Commonwealth University film students. That history provides context for the band’s mix of performance art and music, but does not establish which scenes or props will appear in Fort Lauderdale.
GWAR has also used public figures in staged violence at other shows. Westword reported that a separate Denver performance on October 27 included a mock beheading of an Abraham Lincoln figure. That is one documented example from another venue, not evidence that the same scene is planned for Revolution Live.
What the Secret Service reports do—and do not—establish
The band’s use of political figures has fueled claims about federal scrutiny. The Daily Beast reported that GWAR staged a mock killing of Donald Trump at a Washington, D.C., Warped Tour performance and that the band said the act drew Secret Service attention. The Miami New Times, meanwhile, reports that singer Michael Bishop disputed a wiki entry asserting that GWAR was formally investigated, saying it had extrapolated from his remark that the band was probably on some kind of list. No government source has confirmed an investigation. These reports concern earlier performances; they do not show that federal authorities are investigating the Fort Lauderdale concert.
