Katseye's Tuesday night show at Little Caesars Arena fell apart after doors had opened and fans were seated, with the girl group announcing that member Megan Skiendiel was too sick to perform and postponing the Detroit concert on the spot. Fans who had already made it inside the arena, along with hundreds more still arriving, were left scrambling for answers as the scheduled 8 p.m. start time came and went.
According to The Detroit News, the postponement announcement came just before 7:30 p.m., catching concertgoers off guard. The group had already performed a two-song sound check for a select group of fans, and three members had taken part in a VIP meet-and-greet before word of the cancellation spread. In a statement shared on Instagram Stories, Katseye said, “Megan (Skiendiel) is unwell and unable to perform tonight.”
The group added that it wanted to give Skiendiel room to heal, saying, according to USA Today, “we want to make sure she has the time she needs to rest and recover.” No replacement date had been announced as of the group's statement, but fans' original tickets will remain valid for the rescheduled show, the outlet reported. Little Caesars Arena confirmed the same ticket policy to attendees.
Fans Caught Off Guard Outside the Arena
In a TikTok video, Jessica Guerrero said she and her daughter did not live in Detroit and learned about the cancellation only after they had already arrived at the venue. Other concertgoers described similarly chaotic scenes. A fan posting as @theogblackmamba said the show was called off roughly 30 minutes before it was due to start and criticized the lack of warning, while a fan using the handle @adelasmin said they had driven three hours to Detroit and spent their remaining travel money just to attend.
The backlash wasn't universal, though. Some fans defended the group and pointed to the physical toll of a packed touring schedule. A fan posting as @newskatseye wrote that “Katseye needs a break both physically [and] mentally,” per USA Today's reporting on the online reaction. Others took a harder line on who should be held responsible: a fan using the handle @kookendipity placed blame on Hybe and Geffen Records, while another, posting as @danonsjimin, called for canceling the rest of the tour entirely so the members could rest.
First Cancellation of a Demanding Global Run
The Wildworld Tour, which supports Katseye's EP Wild, kicked off Sept. 1 and has taken the six-member group through major cities across Europe and the United States, according to USA Today. Tuesday's scrapped concert marked the tour's first outright cancellation. The six members are Megan Skiendiel, Sophia Laforteza, Daniela Avanzini, Lara Raj, Yoonchae Jeung and Manon Bannerman — though Laforteza and Bannerman are currently on hiatus from the group to focus on their health, the Detroit News reported.
This wasn't the tour's first health scare. At an Oct. 27 stop in Boston, Daniela Avanzini and Megan Skiendiel missed a VIP fan event, soundcheck and Q&A session due to illness, though USA Today reported that both ultimately performed at that night's concert. That Boston incident already drew criticism, with some fans objecting to paying for a VIP experience with an incomplete lineup, while others again urged the group to take time off.
Looking Ahead to Chicago and Beyond
Katseye is next scheduled to perform Thursday at the United Center in Chicago, according to USA Today. Reporting has varied on exactly when the broader 19-date North American leg is set to wrap: the Detroit News reported it was slated to end Nov. 27 in Mexico City, while Billboard reported the run was set to conclude Nov. 28 with the second of two nights at the Palacio de los Deportes there.
It also isn't the first time illness or injury has forced the group to step back from a commitment. Rolling Stone reported that Katseye had previously withdrawn from Olivia Rodrigo's Daisy Chain Fields Festival after Skiendiel suffered a sprained ankle. As for ticket holders still waiting on answers from Tuesday's postponement, Ticket News reported that Ticketmaster said refund or credit options, where available, would appear directly in customers' event details within their accounts.
