A Livingston man is facing seven charges and a $96,000 bond after police say he repeatedly rammed a boat and trailer outside Frank’s Restaurant, then led officers on a pursuit down Byrdstown Highway that ended with him allegedly ramming a police cruiser before finally stopping.

Livingston Police Department officers responded to Frank’s Restaurant on October 24 after getting a report of a crash involving an alleged assault, according to a Livingston Police Department release posted to Facebook. Witnesses told officers that a vehicle, later identified as being driven by Gary Threet of Livingston, had repeatedly struck a boat and trailer that a truck was hauling. Witnesses also told police that Threet assaulted the truck driver, according to the same witness statements cited in the release.

Chase Down Byrdstown Highway Turns Dangerous

Rather than stay at the scene, Threet fled from law enforcement, touching off a pursuit on Byrdstown Highway, as reported by WSMV. During that chase, police said Threet swerved toward law enforcement officers multiple times, attempted several brake checks, and veered into oncoming traffic. The station’s report notes those maneuvers unfolded as officers worked to end the pursuit safely.

Officers eventually managed to box in Threet’s vehicle, but the station’s report indicates the confrontation wasn’t over. Police said Threet then used his vehicle to ram a city police unit multiple times before finally coming to a complete stop. He was taken into custody at the scene.

Medical Clearance, Jail Booking and Seven Charges

Following his arrest, Threet was transported for medical evaluation and clearance by EMS before being booked into the Overton County Jail, per the same police account. The charges against him include resisting arrest, evading arrest, vandalism, leaving the scene of an accident with injury, two counts of reckless endangerment and two counts of aggravated assault.

Each charge carries its own bond amount that together total $96,000, according to the police department’s release. Threet is scheduled to appear in court on November 19. The police department’s statement notes that all suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
