A rollover crash sent an SUV crashing into the front of a house in Miami on Saturday, trapping a woman in the back seat and leaving the home damaged enough that the Red Cross stepped in to help the family living there.

Crews Cut Trapped Passenger From Wreckage

Miami Fire Rescue responded to the scene at 1957 Northwest 1st Street, where the rollover crash had torn into the front of the home, according to WSVN. Arriving crews found a female passenger trapped in the back seat of the smashed SUV, the outlet reported. A technical team had to cut her out of the vehicle before she could be freed.

She was then taken to the Jackson Memorial Ryder Trauma Center, per the same report. The driver of the SUV denied treatment at the scene, WSVN noted, and no other injuries from the crash were detailed.

Red Cross Steps In For Damaged Home

With the front of the house torn open by the impact, the Red Cross is now assisting the family whose home was wrecked in the crash, the station reported. The extent of the damage to the structure beyond the point of impact was not detailed.

Saturday's crash echoes a similar incident in Broward County earlier this year, when a black SUV plowed into the side of a Fort Lauderdale home in the 2900 block of Northwest 13th Street, according to NBC Miami. In that case, a woman found inside the SUV was taken to Broward Health with non-life-threatening injuries, while the five people inside the home at the time were not hurt, officials told the station. The American Red Cross also stepped in to help the affected residents in that incident, NBC Miami reported.
