Sicilian Oven, the South Florida chain known for its wood-fired pizzas and Italian classics, is preparing to open three new restaurants in Doral, Kendall, and Boynton Beach. The expansion will push the company from its current 10 locations to 13, with each new site tied to a specific address, square footage, and opening timeline.
The Doral restaurant is set for Doral Square at 8700 NW 36th Street, where it will occupy approximately 4,726 square feet on the ground floor and feature a large wraparound patio, according to WhatNow. That location is expected to open in the first quarter of 2027. The outlet reports the Kendall restaurant will land at 11800 Mills Drive, taking up roughly 4,663 square feet plus patio space, with an opening targeted for the first quarter of 2028.
Boynton Beach marks new territory for the chain. Per the same report, Sicilian Oven is planning a roughly 3,890-square-foot restaurant on the ground floor of a mixed-use property at 1800 N. Congress Avenue, expected to open in the second or third quarter of 2027. It will be the company's first restaurant in that city.
A Private Equity Push Behind the Growth Spurt
The three-site rollout follows a strategic investment from private equity firm Goode Partners, the article notes, which is described as helping Sicilian Oven accelerate growth throughout Florida and the Southeast. The company previously expanded at a pace of just one or two locations a year but is now pursuing multiple opportunities at once, and reportedly has several additional leases in negotiation.
Sicilian Oven was founded nearly 20 years ago, with Restaurant Business reporting it was started in Fort Lauderdale in 2008 by restaurateurs Ralph DiSalvo and Andrew Garvuso. That outlet also reports the financial terms of the Goode Partners investment were not disclosed. The chain currently operates its 10 existing South Florida locations primarily across Broward and Palm Beach counties, the WhatNow report notes.
DiSalvo and Garavuso said they are excited to expand Sicilian Oven into new South Florida markets and intend to preserve the company's authentic Sicilian specialties, wood-fired cooking, and welcoming neighborhood atmosphere as it grows. They have described the brand's slogan as, “We're not your typical Italian restaurant.”
What's on the Menu
Beyond the wood-fired pizzas that built its reputation, Sicilian Oven's menu extends to fresh-to-order pastas, salads, sandwiches, and cocktails, according to CBS News Miami. The chain's broader focus remains on authentic Sicilian specialties and neighborhood dining, pairing Italian classics with the wood-fired approach that has become its signature.
The Kendall Shopping Center Backdrop
The Kendall address tied to Sicilian Oven's planned restaurant, 11800 Mills Drive, is also the site of the Palms at Town & Country, a shopping center owned by Kimco Realty, according to the Miami Herald. The center has been adding restaurant and café tenants this year, including a Cava that opened a 2,720-square-foot space inside a former Bolay location in April, and a Pura Vida Miami café that leased roughly 3,400 square feet for a planned summer opening, as detailed by mariapenalver.com.
The property has also drawn attention for a separate redevelopment proposal. The Miami Herald reported that plans floated for the center include a pair of 12-story apartment buildings on the site of a Kohl's building at the same address, envisioned to include 630 apartments combined with 35,000 square feet of retail. Kimco has said it had not filed a formal application, pulled permits, or taken any steps to advance a project at that site, and that the Kohl's store remained open and operating.
Live-and-shop plazas like the Palms at Town & Country reflect a broader trend across South Florida, the Miami Herald has reported, as centers mix retail with dining destinations to draw repeat visits. For Sicilian Oven, the Kendall address places its newest restaurant inside a shopping corridor already in flux, even as the chain's own opening timeline there stretches into 2028.
