A scratch-made cake bakery is moving into the Brentwood storefront formerly occupied by Peace, Love and Little Donuts, which closed its retail operations in 2025. SusieCakes plans to occupy 213 Franklin Road, Suite 120, inside Hill Center.
From Donut Shop to Dessert Destination
The donut shop that previously held the space announced it would close its retail operations on March 3, 2025, according to Williamson Source, which had reported the shop's location at 213 Franklin Road, Suite 120, in Hill Center. Now SusieCakes is positioned to fill that same storefront, and Hill Center Brentwood already lists the bakery as coming soon on its website, per the seed reporting from Williamson Source.
Permitting records cited by the outlet indicate the Brentwood Planning Commission approved the project in October, with plans that include exterior modifications such as a green-and-white awning. A separate account from citizenportal.ai describes the proposed awning colors as bluish green and white, and notes that signage review for the storefront was handled separately from the awning proposal.
What SusieCakes Brings to the Table
SusieCakes was founded by Susie Sarich in Brentwood, California, in 2006, inspired by her grandmothers' recipes and a commitment to baking traditional desserts from scratch using simple ingredients, according to the same Williamson Source report. The chain specializes in layered cakes, cupcakes, cookies and other sweet treats, and is known broadly for made-from-scratch cakes, cupcakes and classic American desserts.
Popular menu items include the vanilla celebration cake, red velvet cupcakes, carrot cake and chocolate chip cookies, the outlet reports. SusieCakes also offers decorated cakes for birthdays, weddings and other celebrations. The Brentwood location would join the company's existing Middle Tennessee bakery at The Mall at Green Hills in Nashville.
No official opening date has been announced for the Brentwood shop, the article notes.
Part of a Broader Wave of New Openings
SusieCakes isn't the only new name popping up on Williamson County menus. A Paris Baguette bakery is planned for McEwen Northside in Franklin, which would mark the brand's first Williamson County location, according to The Tennessean. As with SusieCakes, an official opening date has not yet been announced for that location either.
Big Bad Breakfast is also eyeing a Brentwood location, which would be the brand’s fifth in Middle Tennessee, with an opening date of November 5, 2026. The Tennessean's roundup frames the wave of new openings as restaurant operators racing to keep pace with growth across the Franklin and Brentwood area.
