Hotel Nikko San Francisco has turned an entire floor of its Union Square property into a dedicated wellness retreat, complete with a 24-hour fitness center, a Japanese hot stone sauna, two steam rooms, and a cold plunge. The Japanese-inspired luxury hotel dedicated its entire fifth floor to the 10,000-square-foot buildout, giving guests a one-stop space for workouts and recovery without leaving the building.
The renovated floor includes fitness and post-workout recovery amenities alongside dedicated areas for stretching and core work, according to hautelivingsf.com, which reported the hotel devoted an entire 10,000-square-foot floor to fitness and relaxation. The 24-hour health club features cardio and strength equipment from Peloton, Tonal, and Precor, the outlet reported. A new Plunge cold plunge joins the hot stone sauna and the two steam rooms as part of the recovery lineup, per the same report.
A Heated Pool and Poolside Perks
Guests can also access an indoor rooftop pool, described by hotelnikkosf.com as a heated indoor swimming pool where guests can swim laps, unwind after sightseeing, or enjoy a relaxing break year-round. The hotel offers year-round use of a whirlpool spa and private cabanas as part of the same amenities, the hotel's site notes. Smoothies and other food and beverage items can be ordered via QR codes for delivery to the health club or poolside cabanas, according to Boutique Hotelier USA, which first reported on the fifth-floor rollout.
Pool specifics come from the hotel's own FAQ: the newly renovated, heated pool measures 15 meters and is open from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily, according to the hotel's FAQ page. That same FAQ states that guests in room categories other than Suites and Imperial Floor rooms can use the indoor pool and the 10,000-square-foot health club for a one-time $25 fee per room per stay. Separately, a 7x7 listing shows day passes for non-hotel-guests starting at $44 per person, covering the rooftop pool, health club, sauna, and steam room — a different offer with its own terms from the hotel-guest fee.
Free Yoga Classes Start December 4
Starting December 4, the hotel will offer complimentary Nikko Yoga classes on the pool deck every Monday and Friday morning, per hautelivingsf.com's report. The hotel is also rolling out a Rise. Run. Restore. program with two curated San Francisco running routes — a scenic three-mile option and a more ambitious five-mile route — according to the same outlet.
On the sleep side, the hotel introduced a Ritual for Rest bedtime amenity program that lets guests personalize their nighttime routine. Guests can request specialty pillows, premium white noise machines, luxury silk sleep masks and pillowcases, and calming linen sleep spray, the report notes. Ritual for Rest joins the wellness ritual as part of the hotel's broader Ritual program.
Dining and Entertainment Round Out the Experience
Food and nightlife options tie into the wellness push too. A morning ritual at ANZU centers on a breakfast buffet of Japanese specialties and American favorites, while the evening ritual features ANZU's 13-course modern omakase. Jason Francisco is ANZU's executive chef, according to hautelivingsf.com. Kanpai Lounge rounds out the evening with Japanese-inspired small plates and inventive cocktails, while Feinstein's brings live musical entertainment, the outlet reported.
Hotel Nikko San Francisco comprises 533 guestrooms and suites and stands as the only U.S. property within the Nikko Hotels portfolio, according to Boutique Hotelier USA, which first reported on the wellness center's unveiling. The property sits in the heart of Union Square, pairing the new fifth-floor amenities with the hotel's existing culinary concepts, ANZU and Kanpai Lounge.
