San Francisco is gearing up for the Golden State Valkyries' championship parade this Wednesday, November 4, with the celebration set to roll down the Embarcadero from noon to 2 p.m. The route starts at the Ferry Building and heads north along the bay side of the Embarcadero to Second Street, and fans hoping to grab a good spot can start lining up as early as 9 a.m.
The parade details come straight from the team itself. According to the Golden State Valkyries, the club will host the Valkyries Championship Parade, presented by Kaiser Permanente, on Wednesday, November 4 from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. The team also said fans can begin lining up along the parade route at 9 a.m. on the bay side of Embarcadero between Mission Street and Second Street.
Crowds are expected to be substantial. KTVU reports that thousands of spectators are expected to line the streets for the celebration, and businesses are preparing for the event.
Street Closures and Transit Changes to Expect
Getting around the Embarcadero corridor will look different for most of the day. Per the SFMTA, eastbound King Street and the northbound Embarcadero between Third and King and Broadway and Embarcadero are scheduled to close from 12:01 a.m. to 4 p.m. Southbound Embarcadero and westbound King Street between Broadway and Embarcadero and Third and King will close separately, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Transit riders will see adjustments too. The agency's guidance notes that the F and N lines along the Embarcadero will be suspended from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., while buses will provide F Line service all day in place of the usual streetcars. The transit agency's advice for anyone heading to the parade is straightforward: the easiest way to reach the parade is to use Muni Metro service, sidestepping the closed streets entirely.
Fire Department's Safety Checklist for Paradegoers
Ahead of the event, the San Francisco Fire Department Media account shared advice for groups. The post advises groups to choose a meeting place, charge phones, and make sure everyone knows the plan, according to the San Francisco Fire Department Media
post.
The department's message also provides an alert-text number.
Between the lineup starting at 9 a.m., the parade itself running from the Ferry Building to Second Street, and the extended street closures stretching into the afternoon, Wednesday is shaping up to be a long one for downtown San Francisco. Whether on foot, bike, or Muni, anyone planning to catch the Valkyries' championship celebration will want to factor in the detours well before noon.
