San Francisco is waking up to temperatures in the mid-50s Thursday, with high clouds and a high near 69 degrees ahead. Warmer weather is expected into the middle of next week, even as coastal flooding and dangerous surf create serious hazards along the shoreline.
According to the National Weather Service, Thursday will be dry with high clouds, with light winds early before a west breeze reaches about 8 mph during the afternoon. Friday should be similarly mild, with temperatures in the 60s along the coast and 70s inland into the middle of next week.
High Tides And Dangerous Surf Hit The Coast
A Coastal Flood Advisory is in effect until 4 p.m. Friday for some zones, with a separate advisory from Saturday morning through noon Tuesday for other zones, amid tidal-flooding concerns in Bayshore locations. Thursday morning's high tide is expected around 8:35 a.m., reaching about 1.3 feet above normal at the San Francisco tide gauge.
A separate Beach Hazards Statement is in effect through Monday evening, warning of 12- to 16-foot breaking waves, sneaker waves, and strong rip currents at exposed Pacific beaches. The forecast calls for dangerous conditions near beaches, jetties, rocks, and piers, and officials are urging people to stay out of the water and never turn their backs on the ocean.
Warm, Mostly Sunny Stretch Continues
Coastal temperatures are expected to remain in the 60s, with inland valleys in the 70s into the middle of next week. Patchy fog is possible in North Bay valleys Thursday morning, with inland stratus possible Thursday night into Friday morning.
Tuesday should remain warm and dry for most of the day, with a slight chance of light rain arriving late Tuesday night and continuing into Veterans Day. Wednesday is expected to have a high in the mid-60s.
