The bikeway improvements, which began in 2016 following two deadly hit-and-run collisions, will provide an uninterrupted protected bike lane between Market Street and Mission Bay.

The new westbound bike lane on Fell is intended to take pressure off the Panhandle's crowded mixed-use path.

Built in 1962, the bridge is set to come down as part of the project to speed up the 38 and 38R-Geary buses.

Starting this week, some streets will be closed to through vehicle traffic in order to prioritize walking and biking as well as to provide more space for social distancing.

Muni is slicing service to just 17 key lines as the shelter-in-place wears on.

"The decision to shutter the subways to promote social distancing has completely backfired," wrote one commuter.
