Two Oakland residents were arrested yesterday on suspicion of shooting into a crowd and seriously injuring a man near the Westfield Mall.

The new U.S. Attorney for Northern California is launching a year-long effort to reduce violent crime and drug trafficking in the Tenderloin.

The victim is the second pedestrian to be killed at the intersection in less than a month's time.

Police said the victim was crossing the street against a red light when a driver struck her. She was transported to a hospital with life-threatening injuries.

In one incident, Tenderloin officers chased a felon in a stolen Tesla at high speeds across the city.

The driver, a 50-year-old Richmond resident, has been arrested for vehicular manslaughter and failure to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk.

"We are in a state of emergency in the Tenderloin – we need slower speeds, more two-way streets, and greater enforcement," Supervisor Matt Haney said.

"We have some of the most dangerous streets and intersections in the city, and we need urgent changes," District 6 Supervisor Matt Haney said.

In one incident, a man stole a wallet from the table of two people eating lunch, then threatened to stab them.

One of the arrested protesters says that SFPD officers violently attacked them and mocked their disabilities.

In one incident, a man lost the key to his hotel room, then entered it later in the day to find a suspect stealing his passport and credit cards.

One of the six victims, a pedestrian, sustained life-threatening injuries.

Tenderloin police rounded up 61 suspects in a one-day operation last week, and responded to numerous robberies at gunpoint since our last recap.
