The corned beef and cabbage will be served up for St. Patrick’s Day, as the Van Ness Avenue hofbrau Tommy’s Joynt adds indoor dining to their current take-out fare.

The Tenderloin’s Municipal Marketplace, led by Mission-based nonprofit La Cocina, expects a soft opening this spring starting with take-out and delivery options, after facing construction and safety delays due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Fans of craft beer in the Tenderloin have something to celebrate: a brand-new beer and wine bar, Barley, is now open at 1038 Polk Street.

Jones, got dinged by the SF Department of Public Health this week after it appeared to be promoting a New Year's Eve bash in violation of state and city health orders. Following some confusion about whether the event was still happening, it has been "postponed."

Modern Indian eatery August 1 Five will close permanently on December 20, after just over four years at the corner of Van Ness Avenue and McAllister Street.

Iconic San Francisco hofbrau/sports bar Tommy's Joynt (1101 Geary) has reopened for the first time in eight months, and the corned beef dinners have already begun flying out the door. 

We could be stuffing our faces with Tommy’s Joynt turkey this Thanksgiving, and the old-school Van Ness sandwich-and-stew hofbrau has announced a “reduced” reopening for Thursday, October 29.

"We held on as long as we could," said owner Rusty Olson.

Three blocks of the Tenderloin will be closed to cars for outdoor dining and shopping.

A first-time restaurateur, Ismoil Ochilov sold his car and invested his life savings to bring his native Uzbek cuisine to San Francisco.

The new outpost is currently just a takeout window, but may eventually have sit-down dining as well.

The French eatery, popular for brunch, had been closed since the start of shelter-in-place.
