Here are a few Lower Haight-related news stories that didn't quite make the front page this week.
Vinyl Wine Bar (at Cafe Divis) did indeed open for business a few days ago, and so far we've received several positive reports from readers. The bar is open Monday through Wednesday, from 5:30pm - 11pm, and until midnight Thursday through Saturday.
Also now open is mediterranean restaurant Palmyra, which went into operation shortly after our post on Wednesday. We've heard a few mixed early reviews -- anybody tried it yet?
The Divisadero Merchants Association is seeking potential poster designs for the next Divisadero Art Walk. Submissions will be accepted through a site called ugage -- submit your email address there to get more info on the contest.
Today, SF Appeal posts an illustrated recap of San Francisco's 2011 homicides, with visual references to the two most recent crimes in the Lower Haight, and even a very humbling cartoon version of yours truly!
An up-and-coming Lower Haight-based vintage store called Retrofit Republic is having its first-ever trunk show tonight. Retrofit doesn't yet have a storefront though, so their trunk sale will be over in Oakland at Somar Bar, from 6-9pm. Alternatively, if you can't make the event and want to set up a private Lower Haight visit with Retrofit to see their spring collection, email [email protected].
Know any leaders, unsung heroes, world-class innovators, or other notable characters in the Lower Haight that deserve to be profiled? KQED Public Radio is looking for guests for their new interview series, "First Person." Email any suggestions to [email protected].
And finally, we'd like to take this opportunity to thank our most recent advertisers: Memphis Minnie's, Noise Pop, Scoutmob, Two Jacks, Lower Haters, and Gianni's North Beach. If you'd like to advertise with us, and reach our growing audience of extremely desirable readers, check out our advertising page.
