First, DiMartino's sister Lisa contacted us with the following statement:
Phil was a wonderful brother, son, friend and co-worker. We are all devastated by his murder. Everyone who knew him had so much fun spending time with him. He was smart and witty, and had a great sense of humor and big heart. He was always there for me and my family. We hope that someone will come forward with information so that we can get some closure on his senseless death.Lisa included the following photographs of her brother in the hopes that they might inspire someone with information to speak up. Also yesterday, the Bay Area Reporter ran a story with some new information in the case, some of which is unsettling. According to the B.A.R.:
In its report on DiMartino’s death, the San Francisco Medical Examiner's office described 48 stab wounds, most of them in his back, among other injuries. The cause of death was listed as "sharp force injuries with blunt force injuries."There are also new details about evidence found inside DiMartino's apartment that may explain why police are seeking a hispanic suspect:
"Two notes were located in the living room that bore Spanish language," the report says. What was written in the notes was not included in the report.Again, if you have information about the case, contact the SFPD at: SFPD Homicide Detail: (415) 553-1145.
