In honor of Black History Month, Two Jacks restaurant is doing something special: cooking up the favorite dishes of a few famous African Americans.
Each Wednesday and Thursday throughout February, Two Jacks, (which is an occasional Haighteration sponsor), will be serving up the supposed favorite meal of a specific historical figure. This week's honoree is Martin Luther King Jr., whose favorite meal was purported to be pork chops, mac and cheese, string beans and sweet tea. Next week's menu will honor Barack Obama, with shrimp and grits. The weeks after that are still t.b.d. This sounds like a good (and delicious) way to reflect on some important black leaders, so bring your appetite on down to 401 Haight Street and have yourself a little taste of history.
