What does it mean to be neighborhood of the year? Don't know. Don't care, frankly. Because the Lower Haight is it, and that's good enough for us.
Yesterday, the Lower Haight won the 2011 Curbed Cup, awarded to San Francisco's Neighborhood of the Year -- at least as voted by visitors of real estate website Curbed. Along the way, the Lower Haight defeated Civic Center, the Mission, Hayes Valley, and finally Russian Hill to capture the title. So what do we get for this? A college scholarship? More tourists? Higher rent? It's hard to say. Mostly because we are so extremely drunk with the glory of victory right now that we can barely speak. Congrats, Lower Haighters. 2011 was a wild one, but you still managed to pull out a win. Now let's all have a good 2012 so we can defend this title next year, ok?
