
The
Castro Country Club, the club that offers a clean and sober environment to queers in addiction recovery, has been denied access to the reception hall in the Castro's Most Holy Redeemer Catholic Church for refusing to ban drag queens from their yearly fundraising event.
For the past few years the Castro County Club has held their annual "Harvest Feast" at the church (in addition to other events) with much success and with no issues while having drag queens in attendance for entertainment.
The
Bay Area Reporter reported presiding pastor Reverend Brian Costello confirmed on Monday that, "That is not going to work under the present circumstances."
No doubt "the present circumstances" are a result of the new appointment of ultra-conservative,
anti-gay Salvatore Cordileone to the position of Archibishop of San Francisco by Pope Bendedict XVI.
