Dancing Pig (credit: Seemless)UPDATE: Tablehopper has confirmed with Poesia owner, Francesco d’Ippolito, that he will be opening a second Italian concept in the now-closed Dancing Pig space. The format will be casual and affordable; he mentioned Roman pizza and offering a special menu with two or three dishes for less than $15. Tablehopper also notes that the chef will be Roberto Lamantia who was born in Rome, but has Sicilian parents, and thusly will likely have a "pocketful of recipes."
------
We can confirm the Pig is truly dead and will not be reopening in its previous format. Talk on the street is that the owners of the fine dining Italian restaurant Poesia have purchased the 10 year lease on the space (544 Castro Street) and will turn it into a casual Italian restaurant. Since Poesia is itself an Italian style restaurant we are a bit dubious, however our sources say that the format would be more grab and go Italian food than fine dining.
