Reader Tim tipped us off to news about a possible new owner for the former Jake's on Market Restaurant (2223 Market Street). GrubStreet reported that the location had a notice of application for ownership change posted in the window early in March. The new owner was slated to be a hotel investment group that, according to GrubStreet, hasn't had any restaurant management experience outside of the ones featured in their swanky Carmel and Monterey hotel/resorts. We stopped by to see if the sign was still in the window, but it has been since replaced by a For Lease sign again. The liquor license looks to still be active under the former Jake's on Market owners without any indication of a pending change.
