We reported via GrubStreet in February that the closed Dancing Pig location's lease (544 Castro Street) was being purchased by Poesia's owner, Francesco D’Ippolito, for a new casual Italian-style restaurant. GrubStreet and Tablehopper reported recently that the new restaurant is aiming for a mid-April opening as a Roman-style pizzeria named Dante's Table. The restaurant will be themed after Dante's book The Divine Comedy with three areas of the restaurant being named Inferno, Purgatorio, and Paradiso (the latter being reserved for the back patio area). D'Ippolito will be bringing in artist John Baden in to paint murals of scenes from the book inside the restaurant. (via Tom M)
