The SFMTA has announced the streets included in the city's new ban on curbside RV parking. Conspicuously absent in the list are Oak and Fell.

The San Francisco Municipal Transportation Authority announced last week the final result of a district supervisor-driven ban on RV parking around the city that was launched in 2012. The ban will include large swaths of the Sunset and Richmond, Potrero Hill and Bayview, and was approved by the Board of Supervisors last fall. It's only now being put into precise effect by the SFMTA. Conspicuously absent on the list are any bans for RV parking on streets in or directly bordering the Haight. The bans in the Sunset and Richmond appear geared towards discouraging live-in parking on Golden Gate Park along its western end, and the Great Highway ban affects beach live-in parking. One local resident contacted District 5 Supervisor London Breed with a statement about the state of live-in parking on the Panhandle, concerned that the ban in other areas would drive even more RVs and campers into the Haight and put and additional strain on the homeless services offered in the neighborhood. He contacted then-supervisor Christina Olague about the matter at the time, but never gained enough traction with the D5 supervisor's office to push through parking bans for the Haight. What's your experience with live-in parking on the Panhandle? Is it a problem? Will it be, if the Haight sees an influx of campers and RVs? At the time of this posting we were waiting to hear back from the SFMTA representative. Updates to follow.
